Whether you live in New York City or you’re visiting for the first time, there’s no denying that the holiday’s are a magical time of year.

It’s as good excuse as any to post up with a warm seasonally inspired cocktail (or two) and a few of your nearest and dearest, and this year, the holiday pop-up’s are back and better than ever in restaurants and hotels around the city.

From sipping champagne and indulging in some sweet and savory fondue in an igloo reminiscent of the French Alps or enjoying an apertivo at a brand new Italian ‘winter-house’ opening this weekend on The Seaport, these delightful holiday pop up’s will transport you to winter lodges around the world, just in time for festive season.

Tucked away behind velvet curtains on a side street in NoLita, The Musket Room has transformed their outdoor sidewalk café into a cozy winter lodge filled with all the bells, whistles and wintry delights you could hope for.

Ideal for date night, reuniting with friends or the whole family, with the three separate seating areas that come decked out with an electric fireplace in the style of an old iron stove, holiday lights, furniture and decor, this cozy globally-inspired hot-spot offers seasonal snacks and melt in your mouth mains including heritage pork ribs with labne, dukkah and pomegranate and chanterelle pot pie.

Whatever you do, don’t leave without trying the sticky toffee pudding for dessert or one of the speciality cocktails including the “Todd is a Hottie,” (a hot toddy riff served in a thermos) or the Hot Chocolate “Femmes De Virunga” that comes topped with fresh whipped cream.

Over in midtown, The Dream Hotel’s Midwinter Night Pop Up is back and more resplendent than ever now that it’s been transformed into a whimsical winter wonderland. Replete with Insta-favorite flower tunnel, 10,000 twinkling lights, fuzzy throw blankets and accents of emerald and gold tones, seasonal food and beverage offerings are also available including truffle fries and flaming mac n’ cheese to a themed desert and winter cocktail menu.

With three locations around the city, The Moxy Hotel’s The Pink Winter Lodge in Times Square, The East Village and Chelsea are straight out of a Mariah Carey meets pop-punk fantasyland. From pretty in pink Christmas Trees and Menorahs to a life-size version of Santa’s sleigh, not to be missed this season are signature drinks including the Naughty List Margarita, Apres Ski Spiked Pink Hot Chocolate and Winter Garden Martini.

For a scene straight out of Aspen or the French Alps, Mr. Purple’s Veuve Cliquot Winter Chalet in the East Village will elevate your holiday plans in no time. Complete with fur-lined seating, ambient lighting and a custom champagne bar, the limited-time menu includes both savory and sweet fondue, short rib empanadas, pretzel bites and tempura baby zucchini. Since seating is limited, spots for the igloo can be reserved up to two weeks in advance and there’s a $125 minimum per person.

Set atop the historic The Beekman Tower in Midtown East, Snow Globe in The Sky at Ophelia is an Art-Deco-inspired cocktail lounge that’s been transformed to resemble a shimmering snow globe 26-stories above the city. Dripping in crystal and sparkling snowflakes, the gorgeous holiday decor gives revelers a glamorous holiday sipping experience with seriously deliciously delicious sips to boot.

With panoramic views of midtown Manhattan and Brooklyn, Ophelia’s cocktail menu features reinventions of classic and signature libations inspired by the glory days of lounges during their heyday in the 1920’s and 30’s.

Home to the original holiday pop-up, Miracle on 9th Street will return to The Cabinet in the East Village this year with a few fan-favorite cocktails in tow from the Snowball Old-Fashioned and Yippie Ki Yay Mother F****r! to Jingle Balls Nog and Nice Shot and Naughty Shot.

There’s also a few new additions to this funky aprés-ski meets tiki lounge including the Elfing Around cocktail as well as updates and renewed recipes for the Jolly Koala, On Dasher and SanTaRex.

Opening December 13 in the new Pearl Ally on Pier 17 in the Seaport District downtown, Dante Winter House will be serving coffee, pastries, spuntini and a spritz-centered menu all-season long.

Serving up their signature menu along with a sprinkle of seasonal drinks and a full hot cocktail menu, soon they’ll also be featuring Italian-inspired dishes including flatbreads and pastas as well as a food truck specializing in coffee based desserts.
