Italian yard Azimut has announced its new debut of the Grande 36 Metri — an impressive 118-footer yacht — at the 2022 Cannes Yachting Festival this September. As its moniker implies, the superyacht is part of Azimut’s popular Grande line. Penned by Alberto Mancini, the exterior is replete with sleek and sinuous lines that are synonymous with the Grande designs.
With its original design and modern ethos, the Grande 36 Metri is a superyacht that synthesises cutting-edge style and attitude. The ship embodies the DNA of the Azimut Grande line, with innovative design choices that the shipyard say have ‘never been seen before’.
From the unprecedented semi-walkaround upper deck inspiring freedom of movement to the fully retractable side windows posing a special gateway to the sea, all elements contribute to visually blend interior and exterior spaces. A concept that offers a barrier-less lifestyle. It aims to revolutionise the traditional layout and create areas that didn’t exist before on boats this size.
The sky lounge sits at the centre, with oversize slide-away glass doors opening up to allow the interior to seamlessly merge into the exterior with its tantalising all- glass hot tub and fully-equipped sundeck. The avantgarde design philosophy centres around offering layout solutions tailored to the individual owner’s lifestyle.
The spaciousness of the various areas are sized to accommodate a variety of uses, giving each owner the opportunity to choose the layout that best suits their lifestyle. The salon and sky lounge can be fitted out in a variety of ways, from traditional to more innovative, including an informal indoor-outdoor dining zone. These new onboard spaces introduced by the Grande 36M epitomise Azimut’s pioneering spirit and commitment to meeting the needs of contemporary owners who desire a yacht that expresses their unique personality.
Speaking about the yacht’s designs, Azimut said: “the philosophy behind the Azimut Grande collection is to evoke a feeling of being completely immersed in nature. “This is achieved by removing any impediments or barriers, with its signature full-length windows just one of many bold design features that are not merely for the sake of aesthetics but designed to deliver an extraordinary experience for owner and guests alike.”
Furthermore, since 2015, Azimut has been pursuing the Green Efficiency Program and the new yacht reflects the new guidelines for reducing environmental impact. Equipped with a high efficiency D2P® Displacement-to-Planing hull designed by Pierluigi Ausonio Naval Architecture, it is able to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by 15-30% at both slow and fast cruising speeds. Azimut’s pioneering use of carbon fibre lamination also goes beyond pure performance, their special Carbon-Tech Generation offers expanded volumes on board while maintaining excellent dynamic stability and perfect handling. Preserving the yacht’s low center of gravity, the carbon fibre lightens the waterline length to reduce the impact of sea conditions and drag.
