The best bar in the world is officially in Barcelona. At least, according to the World’s 50 Best, which announced its 2022 winners on Tuesday, October 4, with Barcelona’s Paradiso taking the top spot.
At a ceremony in (where else?), Barcelona, 50 bars were honored for standing out above all the other drinking establishments in the world, with additional accolades given out for the most sustainable bar (Little Red Door in Paris), plus regional awards as well. The list is intended to serve as an international guide to the world’s top bars and drinking destinations, as judged by an Academy of more than 650 drinks experts, renowned bartenders and consultants, drinks writers and cocktail specialists.
This year’s 50 Best list includes 14 new spots to enjoy top notch cocktails across Athens, Bangkok, Buenos Aires, Chicago, Dubai, Florence, Hong Kong, Lisbon, London, Naples and New York. In the U.S., New York shined as the reigning bar city, with six top spots on the list including Double Chicken Please (No.6), Katana Kitten (No.9), Attaboy (No.22), Overstory (No.34), Dante (No.36) and Employees Only (No.47). Chicago returned to the list for the first time since 2018 with Kumiko (No.25) and Miami’s Café La Trova rose to No.21.
