Eliminate the stress of travelling just before a flight by staying in a hotel near Manchester airport. Chain hotels dominate the airport site itself but, if you choose wisely, you could start your holiday early and enjoy a swim or beauty treatment before take-off. Alternatively, there are charming boutique hideaways in leafy suburbs nearby, a mansion set in a park and Manchester hotels with excellent dining options, plus family-friendly and budget choices too. Here’s our pick of the best hotels near Manchester airport that are either a walk, shuttle or inexpensive taxi ride away. When asking about taxi fares, it’s worth confirming whether the price includes an airport drop-off fee.
Radisson Blu Hotel Manchester airport
You can walk straight into the airport via a covered walkway, the Skylink, from this upmarket hotel. It’s also connected to the airport’s station with train, Metrolink tram and bus connections. Start your holiday here with a complimentary glass of fizz or Bloody Mary over breakfast and make use of the hotel’s leisure facilities, which include an indoor pool, sauna, steam room, gym and beauty lounge. You can also enjoy runway views from its executive lounge as well as from certain rooms on floors seven to nine.
Oddfellows On The Park, Cheadle
Wake up surrounded by 100 acres of green parkland with a stay at Oddfellows On The Park in Cheadle. If planes didn’t pass overhead regularly (triple glazing prevents them disturbing you), you could forget that you’re just a 15-minute drive from the airport – allow between £17 and £22 in a taxi. The 22-room boutique hotel in the Victorian Bruntwood Hall mansion still retains some lovely original features, from its sweeping banister and tiled reception floor to the restored stucco ceiling in its Galloping Major restaurant. If the sun is shining, enjoy pre-holiday cocktails on its terrace watching life in the public park.

Families are well catered for here, with family rooms containing two double beds (or a king bed and two singles in Executive Family Rooms), a kids’ zone with toys in the bar area, kids’ menus and an offer where one child eats free in the Grill Restaurant between 5pm and 6.30pm with every paying adult. Marriott Manchester airport
There’s plenty to keep you entertained in this sprawling 215-room hotel less than two miles from Manchester airport. Spend some time in its leisure centre, working out in its large gym, or taking a dip in its 20-metre indoor pool before relaxing in the whirlpool tub, steam room, sauna and plunge pool. If that sounds like too much effort pre-holiday, there are also two independently-run restaurants that attract locals as well as hotel guests – a chic Italian, San Carlo Fiorentina, and a French restaurant, Brasserie Blanc. A 16-seater shuttle bus runs between the hotel and airport from 3am to 11pm. Outside of these hours, taxis cost around £12.
Premier Inn Manchester airport Runger Lane North
A reliable budget option less than two miles from the airport, the Premier Inn Manchester Airport Runger Lane North is clean and modern. Ask for an airport facing room on the fifth or sixth floor for a view of the runways. Family rooms can fit a double bed plus a single sofa bed, pull-out bed and a cot. (If you’d rather two doubles, try the Premier Inn Runger Lane South over the road). A shuttle bus runs from the hotel to the airport every half an hour between 4am and 10am (£4.50 per adult and £2 per child), while taxis cost approximately £11.

Doubletree by Hilton Manchester airport
On the airport site, this newly renovated DoubleTree hotel is a modern, comfortable option with a small gym. You’ll receive a warm cookie on check-in, then choose between stonebaked pizza and classics such as burgers in its Mason’s Restaurant or sip local Manchester Gin or craft beer in its bar. Rooms are decorated in muted greys with splashes of yellow on furniture and royal blue honeycomb patterned headboards – a nod to the Manchester bee. There’s a good choice of room set-ups for families including those that sleep up to six.
