Souper Fry in Merrick, New York, reopened its original location in March after closing in 2017. The Long Island joint is widely renown for the Sazini, (panini-wrap hybrid) which appears alongside the menu’s newest addition, the Knishwich. Besides its sandwich offerings, Souper Fry serves many kinds of homemade soups, as well as hand-cut fries with an impressive selection of over 15 dipping sauces. We try the Sazini for ourselves and talk to locals as well as owner and Merrick native John Passman about how Souper Fry’s Sazini has become synonymous with the town of Merrick.
