Ready to set sail while enjoying fine dining? A new experience turns a temporary restaurant closure into an outdoor adventure.
While the Midtown restaurant undergoes renovations this summer, Marea has packed its bags (and kitchen, and dining room) and collaborated with Classic Harbor Line to create Marea at Sea. This new concept combines leisurely sail around downtown Manhattan with featuring a menu of favorites from the restaurant’s Italian-inspired coastal cuisine.
Monday nights through September 25th, the two-hour sunset sail will start at Chelsea Pier 62 and cruise down the Hudson River to offer guests spectacular views of the New York City skyline accompanied by Marea’s crudo, caviar, and more.
The Taste of Marea takes place aboard the America 2.0, Classic Harbor Line’s largest and most elegant schooner at a length of 105 feet with 3,600 square feet of sail area.
While sailing past the One World Trade Center, Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, guests will be treated to two savory platings followed by a sweet bite and the option of a three-glass wine pairing by Marea’s sommelier team.
Fans of Marea will certainly recognize some of the restaurant’s classic items on board.
The menu includes a first course including a gougére with tuna tartare, crème fraiche and caviar; Oyster en Escabeche topped with pickled plum, charred scallion, roasted garlic and a crostini chip; branzino crudo with panzanella and Castelvetrano olive; and hamachi crudo with fig, caper and fennel.
The second plating includes hand chopped beef tartare with shallot, cornichon and crostini; lobster salad with tomato, eggplant, stracciatella and basil; seafood salad mixing shrimp, scallops, sepia and salmoriglio (a Southern Italian condiment); and a fairy tale eggplant stuffed with caponata.
Tickets start at $178 and include a complimentary beer, wine, champagne, or soft drink. Additional beverages are available for purchase.
