Inside The Gleneagles X Glenfiddich Whisky Adventure, Worth Nearly $100K

Food & Drink

In a remarkable new collaboration, Glenfiddich, the purveyor of luxury Scotch whisky, and Gleneagles, the iconic Scottish hotel, have teamed up to launch The Glorious Gleneagles x Glenfiddich Whisky Adventure, worth nearly $100,000.

The once-in-a-lifetime package seamlessly intertwines the artistry of Glenfiddich’s Time Re:Imagined series – an upcoming collection of their most refined single malt whiskies, which will be officially released next month – with the pinnacle of Scottish hospitality.

During the two-day experience, Gleneagles’ Royal Lochnagar Suite (an embodiment of both tradition and hyper-luxury) acts as something of a home away from home. It’s been the hotel’s best suite for nearly a century and not only serves as the perfect place to rest between the Adventure’s many experiences, but the most glamorous commute to after indulging in a meal for two at the hotel’s two Michelin-starred Restaurant Andrew Fairlie (included in the experience).

But you’ll get to that meal on day two.

Amidst the sprawling beauty of the Gleneagles estate, guests will partake in 48 hours of exhilarating pursuits and private tastings; notably, Glenfiddich whiskies and the aforementioned Michelin-starred feast.

To start (post a private airport transfer, natch), the retreat unfolds with a personalized pursuit—such shooting, archery and off-roading—followed by a luxury picnic in one of the estate’s most stunning viewpoints.

Let me be clear about this: these are not your average hotel amenities. These ‘pursuits’ are without precedent, curated by Gleneagles’ outdoor expert, Yuri Janssen, and award-winning head of bars, Michele Mariotti, to ensure each and every second feels like the VIP experience of a lifetime.

At its core, of course, this escapade is all about the whisky. Guided by Gleneagles and Glenfiddich’s seasoned whisky experts, guests are given the rarest of chances to explore the Time Re:Imagined series’ triumvirate of rare bottlings, including the 30, 40 and 50 Year Old.

The climax, in fact, takes place between land and sky, where a private helicopter ushers guests to Glenfiddich’s storied distillery – an enclave where whisky craftsmanship and family legacy converge in the most beautiful way imaginable.

It’s not just about joining a group tour and being talked through the distillery’s many award-winning whiskies, either. Within The Glorious Gleneagles x Glenfiddich Whisky Adventure, things are that tad bit more immersive, personal (see: bottling your very own bottle from a secret cask), and culminate in an intimate lunch within its historic walls.

As the sojourn (with many additional secrets) concludes, whisky lovers and investors won’t be left empty handed, either. The final element of the package, worth £75,000 ($95,472) in total, is the gifting of all three bottles from The Time Re:Imagined series (valued at £50,000/$63,657 alone).

The collection consists of three extraordinary single malt whiskies that each capture a moment in time, matured over decades to develop a richness and depth of flavour that is rarely encountered. The rarest is the 50 Year Old, a stunning portrayal of Simultaneous Time, exploring the parallel and complex conditions and effects that have influenced this refined liquid; the 40 Year Old represents Cumulative Time, drawing attention to the layers of accumulated flavour within its liquid, made possible via the remnant vatting process first pioneered by Glenfiddich; and completing the collection is the 30 Year Old, embodying Suspended Time, the moment when the Malt Master suspends the development of the whisky, showcasing the purest expression of the distiller’s character.

And still, while this is a true and unequivocal investment in whisky, the memories made and adventures experienced are ones that transcend taste and time.
