Where To Celebrate New Year’s Eve In New York City

New York City may be the best place to be to ring in a new year, but finding a place to celebrate is serious business. Cue the ball drop, fireworks, and all the champagne and caviar you can imagine. If you’re staying outside of Times Square, here’s where to dine, drink and party as we ring in 2023 until the early hours of Sunday, January 1.

Balaboosta

Ring in the new year at Balaboosta with a Drag extravaganza. She Show, complete with a live 3 piece band and special guest performers will be accompanied by Chef Einat Admony’s specially curated four-course dinner, with vegetarian substitutions available upon request. The menu includes a platter of hummus, tahina, whipped feta and olives; tuna tartare with capers, almond, chili and malawach; braised short rib with lentil crust, red velvet gnocchi and grilled endive; plus a Napoleon with sabayon, persimmon and pine nuts for dessert. Tatiana by Kwame Onwuachi

Located in the legendary David Geffen Hall among Lincoln Center’s renowned performing arts venues, the newly opened Tatiana by Kwame Onwuachi offers an exciting selection of Afro-Caribbean cuisine. At midnight, toast to the New Year with McBride Sisters’ sparkling wine and rosé, which Tatiana is featuring in support of working with underrepresented winemakers. Menu highlights include wagyu short rib pastrami suya, aged ribeye truffle chopped cheese, hamachi escovitch, jerk BBQ scallop pinchos and rainbow cookie panna cotta. Reservations via Resy

Zaytinya

To ring in the new year, Zaytinya will offer two seatings with a special celebratory menu. The first seating ($150/person) will be at 5pm and the second seating ($225/person) will be at 9pm. Both seatings come with a glass of bubbles and party favors. Menu highlights include: Caviar Prassopita (one bite potato and leek pastry topped with whipped Greek yogurt and caviar), Smoked Beet Salad (citrus, Feta, pistachio, pomegranate), Crispy Brussels Afelia (coriander seed, barberries, garlic yogurt), Bone Marrow Kibbeh (beef and bulgur wheat fritters filled with bone marrow, almonds, pine nuts, currants, labneh) and Mini Galaktoboureko (semolina custard, lemon curd, burnt meringue, black olive, preserved lemon sorbet). On New Year’s Day, Zaytinya will serve all day brunch from 10:00am – 5:00pm. In addition to Zaytinya’s brunch menu, there will be Mimosas and Bloody Marys Mediterranean style.

Ethyl’s

As the clock strikes midnight and we head into 2023, guests can get their groove on at the 1970’s-inspired Ethyl’s. The vintage spot comes complete with inventive cocktails and eats, live entertainment, and of course their famous go-go girls. The funky dance bar and performance space is the brainchild of Brooklyn-born Gerard Renny and Charlie Sub and pays homage to the hay days of Studio 54 and Max’s Kansas City. The New Year’s Eve event opens at 8pm with a $15 door charge and will feature music curated by DJ Tommy James, dancing alongside the Ethyl’s go-go girls, FiDolla’ Burgers all night, hats, noisemakers, and other party favors!

Boqueria

The lively Spanish tapas bar and restaurant with several locations around the city will ring in 2023 with a flight of tapas favorites and unlimited drinks including cava, sangria, beer and wine. The menu will offer pan con tomate y jamón (toasted bread rubbed with tomato, garlic, olive oil), dátiles con beicon (bacon-wrapped dates stuffed with almonds and Valdeón blue cheese)+ patatas bravas (crispy potatoes, salsa brava, pimentón, garlic aioli), calabaza con sobrasada (roasted Delicata squash, Mallorcan pork sausage, hazelnuts, Mahón cheese, honey), remolachas con pomelo (roasted baby beets, candied pistachios, sheep’s milk cheese, dill, gambas al ajillo (shrimp, garlic, brandy, lobster reduction, Guindilla pepper in olive oil), pintxos morunos (seared lamb skewers, pickled shallots, salsa verde), and churros with three dipping sauces Two seatings: 6:30 p.m. ($95 per person), 9:30 p.m. ($135 per person), including a Cava toast at midnight.

Arlo SoHo

Arlo Soho is transporting their entire hotel into a New Year’s Even multi-floor extravaganza with different experiences throughout the spaces, including a multiple DJs, Dancers, acrobatic performers, Robots 4-hour open bar, endless bites and more guests. This includes access to its speakeasy Foxtail hosting a midnight balloon drop, rooftop lounge Art SoHo, The Living Room and Studios for an unforgettable night. Tickets start at $208 and are available via Eventbrite. Lindens will also be open serving a special pre-fixe menu booked separately via Open Table.

Estuary

The Brooklyn Bridge Park Restaurant serving food inspired by the land and sea will delight guests with a special New Year’s Eve pre-set menu for $150 per person, which includes open bar. A Charcuterie Plate with cured meats, select cheeses, olives, artichoke hearts and sourdough baguette will be served to diners to start. For the appetizer course a selection of either Seared Tuna with White Bean Salad, Maryland Crabcakes Steak Tartare or Herb Goat Cheese Spring Roll are available to start. From there, entrees include Filet Mignon and Potato Galette, Roast Pork Loin and Apple Compote, Pan Seared Tuna with Wasabi Mashed Potato, Slow Roasted Half Duck or Curried Cauliflower Steak. For the sweet end of meal treat, diners have the option of Whiskey Bread Pudding, chocolate mousse or mixed berries with vanilla gelato.

The Mark Restaurant by Jean-Georges

This elegant restaurant will host a New Year’s Eve celebration that will feature live music and a special DJ performance. Guests will enjoy a prixe-fixe dinner menu that will include a Coupe de Champagne and appetizers such as Caviar with Sea Urchin and Crispy Potato Threads and Yellowfin Tuna with Black Truffle Tartare on a Toasted Brioche. Enjoy entrees such as Roasted Maitake Mushroom with Avocado and Black Truffles, Maine Lobster Thermidor, Soy-Garlic Glazed Dried Aged Beef Ribeye with Black Truffle and Glazed Pearl Onions, finished with a delicious dessert of Valrhona Chocolate Trio Petit Fours. $598 per person
